I started out writing music at a very early age, I was given a little toy electric organ when I was 4, and I think I wrote my first tune shortly afterwards! I like to think my sense of rhythm and harmony has improved since then.
I was always playing around with electronic keyboards but learning conventional instruments at the same time, (piano, guitar, trumpet, drums). However, I was hooked when I started to experiment with writing music on a computer. After listening to dance music all through the nineties, I soon started to put my own dance tracks together using MIDI sequencing and very quickly lost interest in my piano!
I always found composing electronic music in my studio to be far more rewarding than playing conventional instruments, although there is something about playing live in a band which you just cannot re-create with a room full of samplers and computers! However, my drum kit was sadly sold several years ago to fund the purchase of my sampler, but I have promised myself I will go back to the drums one day...
Although my passion is dance music - I love house and trance, I also like to try writing in other styles, to keep some variety in my tracks. For this reason, I try to listen to a wide variety of music too... happy hardcore, chill-out, funk, jazz, rock (well... the only rock I can stand is Queen...), RnB, garage, hiphop, breakbeat, techno, jungle, trance, house and anything in between!
I love artists who are truly talented and have formed their own style, my big dance music influences are Paul van Dyk, Hybrid, Faithless, Groove Armada, MJ Cole and Fatboy Slim amongst others. I like anything with a good beat and lots of bass!
